Berry + Beet Protein Smoothie

aka Pretty in Pink

When energy feels flat or meals start drifting toward convenience, it helps to have one reliable option that actually satisfies.

This bright berry smoothie is built around protein, fibre and ingredients that pull more than just colour. Berries bring freshness and antioxidants, beetroot adds earthiness and depth, and protein turns it from something sweet into something substantial.

Light enough to drink quickly. Filling enough that you're not rummaging through the pantry an hour later.

Ingredients

  • 120 g strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 60 g raspberries, fresh or frozen
  • 80 g cooked beetroot, steamed and peeled
  • 30 g protein powder — whey isolate or plant protein with ≥20g protein per scoop
  • 250–300 ml cold water or unsweetened almond milk
  • Ice cubes, optional

Protein content is brand dependent — check your powder. Aim for a clean ingredient list: protein, flavour, nothing else you can't pronounce.

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender or Thermomix bowl.
  2. Blender: blend on high for 60 seconds until smooth. Thermomix: blend 40 sec / Speed 10, gradually increasing.
  3. Pour immediately. Blend until smooth, cold and vividly pink.
Why it works
  • Protein supports steadier energy and satiety
  • Berries provide fibre and polyphenols with relatively little sugar
  • Beetroot adds colour, texture and an earthy balance that stops it tasting overly sweet
Texture note

For a thicker, more filling smoothie, replace part of the liquid with Greek yoghurt.

  • 100 g Greek yoghurt
  • 100 ml water or unsweetened almond milk

Adjust to your preferred consistency.
